Meet RJ Lee Group’s Water Quality Experts: Shaggy and Scooby

Written by RJ Lee Group | Aug 30, 2024 2:11:00 PM

The bulk of RJ Lee Group’s chemistry labs are found at our Hochberg Road location. The staff at Hochberg includes a team of scientists with impressive chemistry degrees and vast experience in environmental science who work in state-of-the-art laboratories. But when it comes to water quality expertise, there's something fishy about our most seasoned experts: they never leave the lobby.

Water Quality Experts

Meet Shaggy and Scooby. As Asian Carp, they are uniquely qualified to consult on all matters related to water quality. From Mercury to PFAS, they are keenly interested in helping to identify the source and composition of contaminates and working to protect our waterways. “They’ve got a nose for nitrates,” says one RJ Lee Group chemist. “And a feel for fluoride,” adds another.

Shaggy and Scooby often weigh in on important matters related to water quality. Shaggy is currently co-authoring a paper on microplastics while Scooby is researching nitrate levels in groundwater. To them, it's more than a job, its a calling. They live and breath water quality.

Lobby Security

Forget the security cameras, from their vantage point below the main staircase Shaggy and Scooby see everything. Who’s sneaking in late? Who’s grabbing two donuts at the staff meeting? Nothing gets past these two. Shaggy’s got a look that says, “I’m watching you” while Scooby is all about positive reinforcement... and by that, we mean begging for treats.

Dedication

Long hours and late nights are a fact of life in the laboratory business, but no one logs more hours than Shaggy and Scooby. They are at their post in the Hochberg lobby 24/7 all year long. No performance reviews needed—they’ve been through renovations, water changes, and even the Great Filter Incident of 2017. As long as there’s water in the pond, these guys are here to stay, bringing their unique blend of expertise, personality, and unfiltered (pun intended) feedback to the team.

So next time you’re in the Hochberg lobby, stop and say hi to this dynamic duo, and give a nod of respect to their unwavering dedication to researching and preserving water quality.
